Welcome to episode 10 of our podcast where Abi Begho reflects on the effectiveness of fitness parties in getting people fit and active.
We’ve attended a couple of fitness parties, one just a few days ago, and base this discussion on our observations.
We love fitness parties as they are a fun and creative way to get people active. Some of the points that Abi raises in this episode are:
- The need for the whole event to focus on health, some fitness parties send mixed messages, they focus on one aspect of health, exercise, but then serve alcohol and unhealthy food.
- Fitness parties are usually very energetic providing attendees with an intense, cardio vascular workout
- They are very well-attended, so there is the opportunity to reach a large number of people
- They are a good way of targeting women as this type of event draws mostly women
- Fitness parties attract a wide variety of women – old, young, all shapes and sizes, all fitness levels and all races
- These events shouldn’t be a one-off, regular fitness parties would be an effective way for people to get the recommended amount of physical activity
We hope you find this topic interesting. Let us know what you think in the comments section below. Have you ever been to, or organised, a fitness party? What was your experience?
