Sweet Talk Symposium Summary Video

We’re excited to unveil the summary video for The Sweet Talk Symposium, a groundbreaking event that took place on October 25th, 2023, in Nevis. This youth-led initiative marked a significant milestone in the fight against Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and exemplified the power of youth advocacy in driving change and innovation in public health.

The symposium, spearheaded by Ms. Shyra Wattley, our Youth Health and Legal Advocate, brought together young individuals and policymakers to engage in a crucial dialogue on addressing NCDs through healthy food policies. Students from Gingerland Secondary School, Nevis Sixth Form College, and Charlestown Secondary School joined prominent policymakers and stakeholders for a comprehensive conversation on vital NCD-related topics.

At its core, the symposium aimed to address the growing NCD crisis in St. Kitts and Nevis through comprehensive healthy food policies. The central theme focused on the implementation of sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) taxation and other related food and nutrition policies. The event provided a platform for meaningful engagement, knowledge sharing, and the development of strategies to tackle the health crisis.

Our distinguished speakers and panelists offered valuable insights into these policies and the work needed to ensure their success. Now, you can watch the summary video to learn more about the symposium’s highlights, discussions, and key takeaways.

Watch and share the summary video to join the conversation on addressing NCDs through healthy food policies. Together, let’s make a difference in the fight against NCDs!
