In today’s episode of our podcast we speak to Jo-Ann Hamilton, the founder of Secret Birds, about her 10-year journey with fibroids. Jo-Ann first experienced symptoms in her late twenties and after visiting three different doctors discovered she had fibroids, these were dismissed as being inconsequential, but she still had symptoms and was convinced the fibroids were the cause of her symptoms. After moving country and visiting another doctor, who agreed that her fibroids were probably the cause of the symptoms, Jo-Ann went on to have keyhole surgery which made a world of difference, but 7 years later her fibroids came back.

During our conversation we learn how Jo-Ann’s experience, although challenging, had some benefits – it was a wake-up call leading her to reflect on her lifestyle which led her to explore the health consequences of today’s fast-paced city life, learn the importance of taking care of her whole self (mind, body and soul) and enabled her to get in touch with her feminine self.

Jo-Ann opens up about her symptoms, surgery and the lifestyle changes that she has made so she can live successfully with her fibroids.
