Expanding Menstrual Health Education in Nevis: Train-the-Trainer Session

Following the successful launch of Phase 2 of our Menstrual Health Education Project in Nevis, we were thrilled to host a train-the-trainer session. This session was organised in collaboration with the Department of Gender Affairs and WASH United and was designed to equip trainees with the knowledge and tools to deliver impactful menstrual health education sessions using WASH United’s guide.

Attendees included guidance counsellors, health educators and gender officers. Thanks to this training, we have expanded our pool of menstrual health educators in Nevis from just 1 to 16! This growth means we can reach more young people with essential education. This will enable us to address taboos, reduce stigma and empower girls to manage their menstrual health confidently.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our speakers, who shared their invaluable insights during the session. Our speakers included:

🔹 Dr William Stones – Obstetrician and Gynaecologist
🔹 Aya Senbel – Project Manager, WASH United
🔹 Abi Begho – Programme Director, Lake Health and Wellbeing
🔹 Saros Hendrickson – Director, Department of Gender Affairs
🔹 Jemecia Paul-Fraser – Menstrual Health Educator, St. Kitts

Their expertise helped create an engaging and informative session, equipping trainers with evidence-based knowledge to support menstrual health education across Nevis.

We are incredibly grateful to all attendees, partners, and supporters who made this training possible. Through this project, we are ensuring that menstrual health education becomes more accessible, inclusive, and empowering for young people in our community.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our efforts to deliver menstrual health education sessions across St. Kitts and Nevis.
