Date:  19th May 2025

Basseterre, St Kitts – 19th May 2025Routes to Resilience, a new mental health awareness campaign from Lake Health and Wellbeing, is launching this May to help the public explore, express, and build their emotional wellness. Developed by a young person, Tau Omowale, the campaign tackles mental health stigma head-on and promotes practical, inclusive ways to support mental wellbeing.

Specifically, Routes to Resilience aims to:

  • Break the silence around mental health and create safe, supportive spaces for open, honest conversations
  • Provide young people and the wider community with tools for navigating emotional highs and lows, including self-regulation, breathwork and reflection
  • Encourage healthy habits like nourishing food, rest, and movement
  • Showcase the power of creativity in healing and self-expression
  • Highlight the often-overlooked importance of men’s mental health

This campaign comes at a critical time as many people continue to navigate a world full of pressures, uncertainty, and emotional strain.

“Mental health is something so many people struggle with in silence,” said Tau Omowale, the young advocate who helped conceptualise the campaign. “We need to create a society where we can talk about these issues openly and feel comfortable enough to reach out for help.”

Routes to Resilience will feature a mix of social media content, workshops, animation, and real-life case studies.

The campaign is coordinated by Lake Health and Wellbeing’s Project Assistant, Jay Robinson, who emphasised the value of supporting young people to lead the change: “Listening to young people, understanding the challenges they face, and helping bring their ideas to life is crucial. They have the creativity and insight we need to shape solutions that work.”

By centring youth voices and prioritising emotional wellbeing, Routes to Resilience seeks to equip our community with practical ways to support their mental health, and each other.

The public can find out more about the campaign on Lake Health and Wellbeing’s Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as their website www.lakehealthandwellbeing.com
