EmpowHer aimed to empower women living with non-communicable diseases. This project was birthed out of a research project we conducted in 2021, with funding from the Commonwealth Foundation. This research project explored the gendered impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on people living with NCDs in St. Kitts and Nevis.

|
The St Kitts and Nevis NCD Alliance is a new collaborative project with a clear mission: to combat Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis by forming a coalition of NGOs working together to tackle important issues.

Our New Menstrual Health Education Project

We are dedicated to promoting the holistic well-being of young individuals, and we believe that comprehensive education about menstrual health is an essential component of their growth and empowerment. That's why we are thrilled to announce our new Menstrual Health Education Project aimed specifically at boys and girls aged 9 to 13 in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Tackling Childhood Obesity Through Creative Approaches

We are happy to announce that our organisation has received a Creative Caribbean grant for our My Healthy Heroes project. This opportunity will allow us to utilise a creative approach to engage children in learning about healthy eating and adopting a healthier lifestyle, thereby contributing to our ongoing efforts to tackle childhood obesity and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

On October 25th, 2023, we hosted The Sweet Talk Symposium in Nevis, a youth-led initiative, which represented a significant milestone in the fight against Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

Below the Belt: St Kitts Premiere and Panel Discussion
|
On 22nd May 2023, we were delighted to host the St. Kitts Premiere of the powerful documentary ‘Below the Belt’ which focuses on the experiences of women who are living with endometriosis.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Lake Health and Wellbeing in partnership with key stakeholders launched a short animation, ‘Just Eat Me Fresh. The animation was developed as part of our efforts to tackle the high rate of childhood obesity which is a major public health issue in the Caribbean.
|
|
|
|
|
Our 'You’re Sweet Enough' project continued this year and was truly rewarding. We welcomed Michele Baker, our dedicated Advocacy and Research Officer, along with the invaluable contributions of three outstanding young people, our Youth Health Advocates, Genesia Pemberton and Fiona Zhang, and our Youth Health and Legal Advocate, Shyra Wattley. All have done a great job in advocating for a healthier society.

In the coming year, we're thrilled to announce our new autism research project. We're very grateful to our donor for this support and we're eager to delve deeper, exploring new avenues to enhance understanding and support for individuals on the autism spectrum.
